About this course
This course was developed by Homes NSW (formerly the NSW Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ).
The Welfare Services Functional Area Refresher must be completed every two years.

Prerequisites
You must have completed:
  • Introduction to the Welfare Services Functional Area Program and Psychological First Aid
  • Welfare Support Officer module
If your role is Evacuation Centre Manager, you must also have completed:
  • Evacuation Centre Manager module

Duration
Approximately 40 minutes. Online, self-paced short course.

Learning outcomes
On completion of this course, learners will be able to:
  • Understand the role of the Welfare Services Functional Area
  • Identify the roles of agencies involved in delivering welfare services
  • Describe the functions of an evacuation centre
  • Understand the immediate assistance assessment process
  • Understand responsibilities for maintaining a safe environment, including WHS obligations, in an evacuation centre 

Target audience
This course is intended for staff from NSW Government agencies who support the Welfare Services Functional Area, including those performing roles such as Welfare Support Officers and Evacuation Centre Managers.

Assessment
There is no formal assessment for this course.
 
Accreditation
This is a non-accredited course.
