Disability Inclusive Emergency Management (DIEM)

The Disability Inclusive Emergency Management (DIEM) Toolkit aims to develop capabilities and advance excellence in inclusive emergency management. DIEM requires a comprehensive approach to ensuring that emergency management information, planning and practices address the needs of people with disability.

Commisioned by NEMA and developed by the University of Sydney and Collaborating 4 Inclusion, this eLearning is for people who work in government or emergency services and will help you learn how to use the DIEM Toolkit.

Module 1: DIEM Toolkit Introduction

In Module 1, you will gain foundational knowledge and access tools to enhance inclusive emergency management.

Module 2: DIEM Maturity Assessment

Module 2 guides you through the steps for self-assessing your DIEM maturity. You will explore the three practice standards and use the DIEM case studies and maturity roadmaps to identify your current maturity level.

Module 3 provides guides DIEM Action Planning tailored to each of the three Practice Standards.

You will explore the seven DIEM Principles, discovering tips and practical strategies to effectively put these principles into practice.
